Parish Groups

St Mary’s Parish has been fortunate in the past to have had many volunteers who were actively involved in our parish community. The COVID pandemic and the various lockdowns have seen many areas of parish life suspended and have reduced the number of active volunteers. As we continue to reopen, we need more members of the community to become involved in various ministries.

In March 2022 our parish catechists  resumed teaching the Catholic children at  Concord State Primary school. Unfortunately, some catechists have retired. Can you help? The CCD have a team of young adult catechists who present workshops at Concord High School.

The Children’s Liturgy of the Word is celebrated during the 9.30 am Mass on Sunday morning. It will resume after Easter.

Parish liturgical ministers assist at all parish Masses.

The Parish has an active team assisting parents who are presenting a child for Baptism.

St Vincent de Paul Society local conference meets every second Wednesday at 6.30pm in the Parish Hall.

A team works with adult candidates for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA).

The Passionist Family Group movement have active groups in the parish.

Altar Society volunteers maintain and clean the church. More volunteers are needed.

If you are interested in becoming involved in any of the parish ministries, please contact the Parish Office or send us your details via New To Parish page.

St Mary’s Parish follows the Archdiocesan Guidelines for safeguarding of all vulnerable members of our community. Many ministries require volunteers to have a Working with Children number and they must complete appropriate training.
