Sacraments - more...

There are many dimensions to the life of a parish community. However, we are most fully the Body of Christ when we gather together to celebrate the Eucharist and the other sacraments. They are important celebrations of our Catholic faith.

The parish community welcomes families who apply to celebrate the baptism of a child.

As parents, you have already given your child the gift of life and you nurture that gift by the love you give to your child. In asking to have your child baptised you are also expressing your wish to share your Christian faith with your child.

Baptisms are usually celebrated on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 11.00 am. Bookings are required as we limit the celebration to four children, unless there are special circumstances.

The parish community is ready to support parents as they undertake the important responsibility of teaching their child about the Christian life. To help you to prepare for this important celebration and to understand the full meaning of Baptism, the parish baptismal team encourage you to attend one of the parish preparation evenings.

Adult Christian Initiation

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the formal process for adults who are seeking to be baptised. Once accepted as a candidate for the Sacraments of Christian Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist), the adult candidiates, who are now called catechumens, meet with the parish RCIA team. There is no set program as the formation depends on the background of each catechumen. The period of formation usually lasts several months.
