CHARITABLE WORKS FUND 2010 PASTORAL APPEAL. This weekend we will be holding the Charitable Works Fund (CWF) Appeal. All monies from the Appeal will be spread across the six agencies CWF supports, including CatholicCare, the Aboriginal Catholic Ministry, the Ephpheta Centre, the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine, the Seminary of the Good Shepherd and the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney's chaplaincies.
WEEKLY ENVELOPE RECEIPTS: There are still some receipts for the financial year 2009-2010 and envelopes for this year to be collected. Application forms for sets of envelopes are also available from the table at the back of the church. All contributions to the parish envelopes and to the Charitable Works Fund are 100% tax deductible

Tickets are now on sale as part of the Canonisation celebrations. Performances will be held in Sydney (1-9 October, Seymour Centre) and Melbourne (23-24 October, Besen Centre). To ensure every parish has an opportunity to purchase tickets there is an exclusive Parish Pre-Sale from August 1–17. If you wish to purchase tickets we strongly advise you do so before August 17 as the production is expected to sell-out. MARY MACKILLOP PLACE FEAST DAY CELEBRATIONS Sunday, 8 th August 2010, Pedestrian entry to Mary MacKillop Place on 8 th August will be via 80 William Street, North Sydney.(Wheelchair access via Museum gates, 7 Mount Street). Masses will be celebrated outdoors on Glenroy Green: 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm & 3 pm. Chapel open for private prayer & visits to Mary MacKillop's Tomb:8.30 am - 5 pm. Museum open (free admission) : 8.30 am – 5 pm. Mary MacKillop memorabilia, Ethica Peruvian products & light refreshments will be on sale in the grounds of Mary MacKillop Place.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION will be celebrated over three Sundays: 5, 12 and 19 September within a special 11.00 am Mass. All those who have already registered have been given their first preference for dates. Please note that Sunday 19 September is now full and late registrations will only be accepted for 5 and 12 September. PARISH DINNER The Social Committee is planning another Parish Dinner for this year. The dinner will be held on Friday 13 August at the Villa Rosa, Norton Street, Leichhardt. The cost will still be $50.00 for a three course dinner and drinks. Now is the time to start planning your table. There will be a limited number of places so start planning now. Everyone is welcome. Forms for table bookings and ordering individual tickets can be found on the tables at the back and in the side porch of the church. SCHOOL PROJECT: The new school building to be funded by the Building the Education Revolution (BER) program has now been approved and work has now commenced. The new classroom block will be located along the Parramatta Road boundary behind the hall. When it is completed the 1970 school building near the church will be demolished to provide playground space and parking for weekend Masses.

MARY MACKILLOP CANONISATION APPEAL. Next week we will be conducting a parish Appeal for the Mary MacKillop Canonisation. The Sisters of St Joseph have appealed for assistance from parishes across Australia in order to raise sufficient funds to cover essential expenses associated with the Canonisation. INFORMATION NIGHT FOR CEBU IMMERSION TRIP, Monday 26 July: Communities for Communities is organising an Immersion Trip to Cebu in the Philippines between 24 September – 3 October. Participants will help to build houses for families who have spent generations living on a local rubbish tip. No building experience is required – training and supervision is provided. MARY MACKILLOP DINNER – 05 AUGUST. Later this year we will celebrate the Canonisation of Mary MacKillop, Australia's first Saint and you are invited to share in this historic event. The Mary MacKillop Dinner will be held on Thursday, 05 August at the Town Hall, Sydney. We expect more than 500 guests including dignitaries such as the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and Archbishop of Sydney, George Cardinal Pell. Tickets are $200 each. The money raised on the evening will go to support the work of the Sisters of St Joseph, the order established by Mary MacKillop, and contribute to the significant costs of the preparations and celebrations of the Canonisation. It is our aim that all Australians take pride and feel included in the Canonisation. There is a series of events planned with little or no charge and further details will be publicised once these are finalised. World-wide Mary MacKillop is recognised as an Australian model of practical compassion. Her work in education, ministry to the poor, the sick and the marginalised continues today bettering the lives of millions.
